WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

As part of the regional priority on rights-based and people-centered conservation to achieve equitable conservation outcomes TNC Asia Pacific region is anticipating the launch of a project aimed at empowering women to lead improved NRM and build resilience to the impacts of climate change in the Coral Triangle (Ultimate Outcome). Of the six CT countries, project activities will be implemented on-the-ground in four countries (Indonesia, Papua New Guinea – PNG, Solomon Islands, and the Philippines) with training and participation in learning exchanges in all six CT countries including Malaysia and Timor Leste. The Project MEL Specialist develops and implements project MEL systems, including data collection and management system, and support project teams in implementing the MEL system. They contribute to the analyses of project data and development/refinement of evidence-based project strategies and activities to advance project objectives.

The MEL Specialist establishes and maintains the management of MEL systems and processes. This includes maintaining the project database, performing data analysis, designing and producing advanced complex queries and professional reports. They coordinate with and support Project teams on data collection, analysis and development of project report. development of tools and protocols, and impact monitoring, contributing to actionable insights for the team. Throughout the project lifecycle, the Specialist will monitor and measure project progress, conduct corrective action as necessary, communicate project status information to all stakeholders, and where relevant, suggest adaptive activities or plans to improve project outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Design, implement and manage project MEL systems, including data collection/management, development of tools and protocols, and supports project teams and partners in implementing the MEL system.
  • Incorporates cross-disciplinary knowledge to support program objectives.
  • Lead the development and delivery of trainings, educational materials, and capacity building for TNC staff and partners or contractors.
  • Work proactively towards implementing organizational and project goals.
  • Manages projects on a large geographic scale.
  • May involve domestic and international travel of 20% or more.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • B.S. or M.S degree and certification in related field and 5 years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in designing and maintaining a database to meet organizational needs.
  • Experience in research, critical analysis, and evaluating information from divergent sources and compiling it into cohesive reports.
  • Experience presenting to and/or communicating with diverse audiences such as internal and external teams, senior leadership, governments, community or business leaders, and or partners.
  • Experience operating GIS software, analyzing data and producing data reports and creating maps.
  • Experience interpreting results then developing and delivering training (if required) to practitioners.                                                                
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Web Browsers.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Working knowledge of current trends and practices in relevant discipline(s) and geographic region(s).
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with other parties to obtain different data sources.
  • Managing and prioritizing tasks from multiple sources and meeting deadlines. 
  • Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
  • Ability to write and speak in another language other than English spoken in the countries of AP Region, highly desirable
  • Ability to work well in a highly matrixed, decentralized and collaborative organization. Possesses strong interpersonal skills and political savvy. Must be a team player.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet time sensitive deadlines.
