About the Role:

We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Senior Floodplain Environmental Water Officer within the Environmental Water unit in the Water Infrastructure and Operations branch.

The Environmental Water Unit coordinates, plans for, and reports on the outcomes of, delivering water for the environment, (including at Katarapko and Pike floodplains). The position is part of a team responsible for the development, and implementation of various components of floodplain and wetland monitoring and management in the SA Riverland.

The position is responsible for project management, planning, investigations and advice on issues related to environmental water management in South Australia. This specifically involves coordinating the hydrological management of the Pike and Katarapko floodplains using environmental infrastructure to achieve ecological objectives. This includes development and implementation of projects, including monitoring and evaluation activities; preparation of environmental watering proposals; procurement including the preparing and managing contracts for specific services; developing and implementing communication materials and activities; and undertaking significant engagement with Traditional owners; key stakeholders and the wider community. 

The Senior Floodplain Environmental Water Officer position is located in Berri or Adelaide and reports to the Program Leader, River and Floodplains.

Contract: Up to 2 years

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
  • A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
  • Some out of hours work, inter and intra-state and remote travel involving overnight ansences may be required.

Remuneration: ASO6 – $98,478 min – $104,165 max p.a.
