As a student, you will build lasting relationships with industry leaders, and contribute to work that will build and strengthen your skill sets. Primary duties include:
- Support ongoing work with the River Engineering Team, potentially including projects that may fall within the fields of flood resilience, drought resilience, dam safety, bioengineering and riparian improvements, erosion and geomorphology and/or infrastructure design. One position will focus primarily on dam safety and asset management.
- Collect and assess data including creek flow measurements, river and groundwater logger data, river ice and/or dam safety data.
- Developing and/or populating data management and reporting tools to assist with asset management and/or project assessment/prioritization.
- Development, testing and application of hydraulic and/or hydrologic and GIS data.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a second- or third-year Diploma or degree program in Civil, Environmental, Water Resources, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience using ArcGIS and/or HES-RES is an asset.
- Previous experience and/ or courses in river engineering, GIS, hydrogeology, dam safety and/ or asset management would also be considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, strong problem-solving skills, a health and safety focus, strong attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team and independently.
Pre-employment Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in school on a full-time basis with the intent to return to school full-time in the Fall of 2025.
- A security clearance will be conducted.
