This Program Specialist (MA3)is part of the Division of Environmental Public Health, specifically within the Healthy Homes and Communities Section. Our mission is to prevent and reduce health hazards in the environment while advancing environmental justice and addressing climate impacts. You’ll play a critical role in reducing childhood lead exposure and poisoning in schools —focusing efforts where children are most at risk.
In this project position with the Lead in School Drinking Water (LISDW) program, you will:
- Assist with transitioning program data to REDCap for managing survey outreach and data storage.
- Review third-party lead testing submitted by school partners.
- Develop and manage external contracts to support program goals.
- Coordinate outreach and communication efforts with schools and key partners.

Location and Flexibility
We value work-life balance and offer the convenience of remote work with occasional in-person collaboration opportunities. Attending events or working In-office is rarely required and would be scheduled in advance. This is a remote/home-based position available to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State, as well as those living near the Oregon/Washington border and the Idaho/Washington border.
Required Qualifications (you must meet ONE of the provided options and any additional criteria listed.):
Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.
Option 1: Six (6) or more years of combined experience providing technical assistance or consultation in a health services program (or closely allied field) that may include the following:
- Performing tasks that include data collection and management
- The use of REDCap or similar digital survey tools
- Developing and managing contracts or grants
- Developing outreach communication materials and technical assistance documents
Option 2: An associate degree that includes course work in public health, community health, health communications, public administration, environmental sciences, or a related field, AND Four (4) or more years of combined experience providing technical assistance or consultation in a health services program (or closely allied field) that may include the following:
- Performing tasks that include data collection and management
- The use of REDCap or similar digital survey tools
- Developing and managing contracts or grants
- Developing outreach communication materials and technical assistance documents
Option 3: A bachelor’s degree or higher that includes course work in public health, community health, health communications, public administration, environmental sciences, or a related field, AND Two (2) or more years of combined experience providing technical assistance or consultation in a health services program (or closely allied field) that may include the following:
- Performing tasks that include data collection and management
- The use of REDCap or similar digital survey tools
- Developing and managing contracts or grants
- Developing outreach communication materials and technical assistance documents
AND for all options Experience will include practical skills in MS Excel for spreadsheet tasks, database management, MS Word for document creation and formatting, and Microsoft Outlook or similar email systems for electronic correspondence.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with or in schools.
- Experience with environmental lead sampling and testing.
- Project management experience
