The State of New Hampshire, Department of Environmental Services, Water Division, Watershed Management Bureau has a full time vacancy for a Clean Lakes Program Coordinator. 

Summary:

Supervises program activities of a statewide, technical environment monitoring and grant management program designed to recommend watershed management practices and to provide expertise in aquatic nuisance species management.

YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education. 

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in biology, zoology, limnology, environmental science, or a closely related biological sciences field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.

Experience: Six years’ experience as a biologist, environmentalist, or environmental engineer in the field of invertebrate taxonomy, stream ecology, limnology, fisheries biology, or a closely related biological sciences field, two years of which shall have involved supervisory duties as well as the preparation of various environmental documents, legal briefs or related research.

License/Certification: Eligibility for New Hampshire driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the operation of motorized vessels, aquatic macrophyte surveys, managing large projects, ArcPro, and modeling.

Responsibilities:

Supervises the Clean Lakes Program, including invasive aquatic plant program activities of the Watershed Management Bureau in planning, developing, and implementing a statewide environmental monitoring and education program.

Reviews biological, chemical, and physical data and oversees the writing of technical scientific reports to improve or protect the environmental health of New Hampshire waters.

Administers grant programs that provide statewide funding for lake and watershed management, innovative preventative, control, and research measures for aquatic nuisance species.

Coordinates highly specialized biological, chemical, and physical studies of aquatic resources, including computer modeling and geographic system analysis to evaluate current, and to project future, environmental conditions.

Plans and coordinates statewide volunteer programs that function to reduce the threat of aquatic nuisance species.

Presents aquatic nuisance species trends and possible solutions to senior management, state legislators, and the general public to achieve goals and to evaluate program effectiveness.

Develops, implements, and evaluates environmental policy provided in RSA 487:15 through 487:30 and RSA 487:43, and Chapter Env-1300 of the administrative rules to protect the environmental health of New Hampshire’s waters.

Plans, designs, and supervises the collection and identification of aquatic nuisance species for all New Hampshire waters to assess the environmental risk and recommend possible solutions.

Implements continuous improvement practices within the section.
