Position: Senior Engagement Manager | International Initiative

Location: India (Preference for Mumbai or Bangalore)

Position Type: Mid-Level, Short-term Secondment to WELL Labs, 1 year with possibility of extension
Position Summary

WELL Labs seeks a Senior Manager to spearhead initiatives across water and agriculture sectors in India focused on groundwater management solutions for rural communities. This role will focus on enhancing collaboration, technical capacity, and partner engagement. The ideal candidate will thrive in a cross-functional environment, balancing scientific insights with project management to achieve environmental goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cross-Functional Collaboration
a. Lead and orchestrate multidisciplinary projects across water and agriculture, enhancing technical, research, and operational capacity
b. Act as a liaison between WELL Labs and partners, ensuring alignment on strategic priorities
c. Facilitate knowledge exchange between India-based and international teams

2. Technical Capacity Building
a. Support the development and implementation of groundwater-related initiatives, leveraging scientific expertise where applicable
b. Contribute to landscape assessments of groundwater challenges in target geographies to support problem and solution identification
c. Provide insights and analysis to inform and lead decision-making on collaborative water and agricultural projects

3. Partner Engagement
a. Build and maintain relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and governmental agencies and support on development of strategic vision for agricultural and water programming
b. Represent WELL Labs and partners at in-person meetings and events across India

4. Project Management
a. Track project timelines and outcomes and ensure timely completion of deliverables
b. Document progress and prepare reports to update key stakeholders regularly

5. Time Zone Coordination
a. Participate in cross-time-zone meetings, including USA-friendly hours
b. Balance real-time and asynchronous communication effectively

6. Communications
a. Contribute and lead white papers, blog posts, and other written materials for internal and external audiences
b. Support fundraising and grant writing

Qualifications Required:

• Masters’ degree in Water Resources, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or related fields.
• 4-6 years of relevant experience in project coordination in relevant sector.
• Strong interest in addressing water and water-related challenges as it pertains to agriculture and rural livelihoods and desire to make a difference
• Willing to learn new concepts and techniques
• Ability to complete tasks independently and work within a larger team environment
• Strong organizational and time and project management skills.
• Flexibility to work across time zones and travel for meetings as needed.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and communication skills.

Preferred:
• Experience with groundwater management initiatives in India.
