Our Water Allocations team is currently seeking to appoint a Lead Hydrologist. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of hydrologists who routinely assess water availability and issue Available Water Determinations under s59 of the Water Management Act 2000.

The responsibilities of our Lead Hydrologist include following established processes and publicly announcing allocation decisions through statements and presentations. You will lead the publications of high quality, timely and accurate water allocation statements. You will recommend approval of supplementary access events wherever applicable. You will be the subject matter expert and hydrology leader, providing insights and advice relevant to plan implementation and water allocation.

About You

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will have following knowledge and experience:

  • Knowledge in one or more of the following hydrologic disciplines: water resources management, water allocation, time series statistics, and or open channel hydraulics.
  • Experience in assessing hydrologic datasets, data analysis and preparing outputs for water resource management requirements.
  • Experience in leading a team of professionals.
  • Experience in effectively communicating complex technical concepts in plain English to executives, inter disciplinary professionals and/or to public.
  • Knowledge of the NSW Government’s water resource management agenda.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree level qualifications in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Environmental Science, or a related discipline covering the subject hydrology.
