Our Geospatial Services team is seeking to appoint a Geospatial Officer to support Water Group – Infrastructure Development and Delivery initiatives, including desktop Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis, application development, and data standards, contributing to effective information management.

The role will provide high-quality GIS technical assistance, delivering data via departmental information systems, web mapping applications, and mobile solutions while ensuring alignment with NSW government requirements and policies on open data, interoperability, and spatial information management. 

As part of a growing specialist unit, you will liaise directly with teams across NSW to address their immediate needs for geospatial support while identifying innovative ways to guide project decision-making, construction planning and asset delivery through our Enterprise GIS platform.

About You

You will have proven experience applying geospatial science/data knowledge to assess and implement effective information analysis and collation tasks. Working with various internal and external stakeholders, you will build collaborative partnerships through strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail is also required for this role, as you will continually review data and identify business risks and opportunities to improve the delivery of high-quality data outputs.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in Spatial Sciences, GIS, Cartography, Information Systems or Computer Science.
