Water Sanitation and Hygiene Institute (WASH Institute) is a national level non-profit development organization, established in Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India in 2008. WASH institute is dedicated to providing practical solutions to a wide range of water sanitation hygiene and environmental issues. The organization operates from 19 locations spread across 10 States and one Union Territory in India.
WASH Institute is provides Technical Assistance to Dept of Drinking Water and Sanitation – Ministry of Jal Shakti on SBM-Gramin and Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) on SBM-Urban, Government of India. WASH Institute also provides technical assistance to State Governments on SBM in selected states. WASH Institute provides access to safe & improved WASH facilities to marginalized & underserved communities & public institutions such as Government schools and Anganwadis across various parts of India.
WASH Institute Institute also conducts regular Post Graduate Diploma courses on Water, Sanitation and Health affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University and approved by Govt of Tamil Nadu with well-established NABL Accredited Laboratory and NSDC Training Centre at its WASH Academy based in Reddiarchhatram, Tamil Nadu.

Desired Qualification:
• Master’s and Bachelor’s in civil/environment engineering with 5 to 8 years’ experience in FSSM and Wastewater infrastructure planning, design, and engineering.
• Experience of working with Government in TSU/PMU setup will be an added advantage.
• The Candidate should possess excellent computer skills in MS Office and relevant applications
Job Description:
State Wastewater Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support and assistance to the State on Wastewater management.
• Will be responsible for supporting framing/ drafting of various documents including guidelines, Toolkits, SOPs, advisories, Modules, ToRs, concept notes, policy briefs etc. Will also provide assistance for documentation and monitoring of activities of the state department.
• Will assist and support the state governments with the aim of providing timely advice, technical guidance, supervise implementation of SBM 2.0, devise course correction interventions, and help the governments in general to make appropriate decisions to achieve the intended outcomes.
• Will assist the states to develop adequate systems and processes specific to addressing emergency sanitation requirements.
• Assist in Rapid assessments of city/ towns to determine sanitation infrastructure gaps (STPs, non-sewered solutions, Faecal Sludge Management, Grey Water Management) and development of concept solutions.
• Provide Technical Assistance and support to the landscaping exercise on the existing Faecal Sludge management & Grey Water Management systems and bring to fore key lessons to the envisaged under SBM 2.0. Also assist in documenting existing user practices, best practices, innovations and prevailing service models in a state or ULB under ODF ++ initiatives.
• Develop Model DPRs and Standard drawings to support practitioners in choosing appropriate mix of interventions and implementing them.
• Develop model RFPs, concession agreements, and templates and ensure consistent application by city/ towns as part of SBM 2.0 implementation.
• Assist in capacity building and knowledge management and provide technical inputs to design of communication programs as required.
• Designing / developing, reviewing, and assisting in executing sanitation systems as required in various urban towns.
• Support efforts to develop, identify, and provide solutions to implement innovations in sanitation technology and assist in developing DPRs, technical specifications and standards, especially around non-sewered solution, Faecal Sludge Management, and Greywater Management
• Supporting in Designing, developing and piloting innovative models to test its feasibility and scalability.
• Providing Technical Assistance and assistance in research on cost effective eco-friendly disposal system that fits for urban settings of India.
• To support the project team in attending the meetings, discussions, stakeholder consultation workshops and presentations.
• Conduct and/or review technical assessment done by others, including O&M practices, market structure and governance framework for decentralized sanitation infrastructure in the targeted state/ULBs.
• Any other work as assigned by the Ministry/State Mission and WASH Institute

Salary Package:
The annual Salary (CTC) will commensurate with the available skills and fitment of the incumbent as per the selection process.
