Job Summary
The Bradshaw Research Institute for Minerals and Mining, or BRIMM, promotes cross-disciplinary research spanning the entire life-cycle of mining, from early exploration to mine closure and rehabilitation. It engages faculty experts from across Science and Engineering and beyond to address industry challenges by identifying and developing research synergies among researchers. It also engages in online education and fellowship opportunities for industry and industry-adjacent members.
The Research Administrator and Economic Leadership management role requires a creative, independent thinker with an aptitude for developing and managing research relationships between faculty and industry. With limited instruction, the incumbent will manage the day to day administrative, financial, communication and outreach activities of the BRIMM Water Stewardship theme, with the potential to expand to other themes, as well as manage the new BRIMM Fellowship and elements of the Economic Leadership online program.
The incumbent will seek and develop synergies within an interdisciplinary research environment and promote our online courses. Possessing a breadth of knowledge of the research enterprise, the incumbent will use this knowledge to seek opportunities for collaboration between researchers and industry partners.
Organizational Status
The mandate of BRIMM is to develop new interdisciplinary research teams that tackle industry problems spanning the full life cycle of mining, and to facilitate pairing of industry research needs with UBC faculty research expertise. BRIMM will foster and advance interdisciplinary research partnerships between faculty and industrial sponsors.
