Project Manager – SALTYMuskoka
Friends of the Muskoka Watershed is a Muskoka-based not-for-profit corporation that fosters research to promote the protection and wise management of Muskoka lakes and watersheds. Friends of the Muskoka Watershed is looking for someone with a passion for the environment and strong organizational skills to take the lead in managing our ongoing projects and operations.
Project:
Overall responsibility for the ongoing management of FOTMW’s SALTYMuskoka project, including, but not limited to:
· Develop familiarity with the road salt issue
· Work with FOTMW resources to manage and market the project
· Work with teachers, students, volunteers, First Nations and lake associations to educate, learn from and accompany to action
· Prepare initial drafts of the required interim and annual reports to the funder
· Design and prepare the kits for lake associations and volunteers
· Work with teachers to design curriculum content for the schools
· Prepare marketing materials for the project
· Find volunteers, design and lead their training, and keep them engaged.
Required attributes:
● Proven project management skills
● Ability to manage virtual teams
● Public speaking / presentation skills
● Experience working with school groups / curriculum, volunteer groups, and general public
● Experience working with First Nations will be an asset
● Post-graduate degree in the environmental sciences will be an asset
● Valid driver’s license
● Permanent use of a vehicle
● A willingness to reside in the Muskoka area for a good portion of the project work
Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 20 per week
