What we need YOU to do:

Ohio EPA wants you to join our team as an environmental specialist with the Division of Drinking and Ground Waters (DDAGW) at our Southeast District Office in Hocking County.

In this role you’ll act as the technical expert for ground water quality and source water protection and help develop policies, procedures and training to ensure the agency’s Source Water Assessment and Protection (SWAP) and 106 programs are meeting state and federal commitments.

You’ll assist with evaluating new public well siting, including determining site accessibility and proximity to known contaminant sources. For existing wells, you’ll review ground water monitoring and pumping test reports and provide technical recommendations.

As subject matter expert, you’ll promote source water protection strategies and assist with developing and implementing protective strategies to minimize ground and surface water impacts from various types of contaminant sources.  

You’ll provide technical assistance, education and outreach to local officials, public water systems, consultants, and the public on Ohio’s SWAP, pollution prevention activities, and hydrologic issues.

¡       Evaluate potential sources of ground water contamination from land use activities.

¡       Review ground water monitoring and test reports.

¡       Investigate and research areas of ground water contamination impacting private and public water supplies.

¡       Promote source water protection strategies and provide technical assistance to internal and external parties.

Qualifications

-7 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.

-Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in environmentally-related discipline; 3 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.

-Or 2 yrs. relevant programmatic experience as Environmental Supervisor, 85865.

-Or combination of education in environmentally focused discipline or other job-related discipline & specific programmatic experience equaling 7 yrs.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
