The quality of air and surfaces in indoor environments is among factors with the greatest impact on health. Sanitization systems for air, surfaces and water can guarantee an effective reduction of the microbial load as well as counteract the formation of biofilm. The aim of this study is the evaluation of the efficacy of sanitization systems, mainly based on UV-C technology, through artificial contamination in a controlled environment. Surfaces of different materials, contaminated with different bacterial species and considering their different survival times, will be evaluated. The innovative aspect of the research consists in evaluating the inactivation of microorganisms also in form of biofilm reproduced in the laboratory. The expected results are aimed at ensuring better safety in different indoor environments, including those intended for fragile subjects.
