The Winter River-Tracadie Bay Watershed Association was formed in 2008 to protect and enhance the health and aesthetic qualities of the Winter River-Tracadie Bay watershed area. The watershed includes communities such as Brackley, Union Road, York, Suffolk, Grand Tracadie, and Blooming Point. The area is the primary source of water for the City of Charlottetown. In 2016 we became a registered charity.

Description & Responsibilities
A Watershed Project Assistant is required to help with end of field season report writing, grant writing, and other computer related tasks as need be. Such tasks may include data analysis, creating social media content, updating company policy manuals and helping the Watershed Coordinator with project planning for the upcoming field season. The position is mostly remote, but occasional outdoor work may be needed. The Watershed Project Assistant reports to the Watershed Coordinator.

Requirements

  • Ability to write in an efficient, professional manner.
  • Ability to prepare and submit proposals for funding (or willingness to learn).
  • Knowledge in environmental issues and conservation work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel & Word) and/or Google Drive (Docs & Sheets).
  • Ability to work from home (possesses own computer, access to internet).
  • Ability to work individually and on a team to complete challenging projects in a timely manner.

Assets

  • Background in biology, environmental science, watershed enhancement, or similar.
  • Environmental document writing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised.
  • Current or former residence within the watershed area.

Work Term & Hours

Work term is 12 weeks starting approximately January 6, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Hours of work are 8:00-16:30, Monday to Friday for 40 hours per week. There is a possibility of a contract extension depending on funding sources and job performance.
