Job description
Fixed term for 2 years, 37 hours per week
We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to join the School of Human and Health Sciences at the University of Huddersfield. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an ambitious international research project:
“A Multi-Country Longitudinal Cohort Study on Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in the Global South.”
The School of Human and Health Sciences is an inspiring hub for research and teaching excellence, with a strong commitment to addressing global health challenges. This role will support a unique project led by the Global Consortium for Public Health Research, in partnership with esteemed institutions in Nepal, India, and Ghana. This collaborative project aims to establish a longitudinal cohort study to identify risk factors for NCDs, generate impactful evidence, and develop effective interventions to reduce their burden in low- and middle-income countries.
As a Research Fellow, you will play a pivotal role in this project. You will be involved in gathering preliminary data, conducting qualitative and quantitative research, and working closely with international partners to deliver on the project’s objectives. The position will be based in Huddersfield, but you will undertake regular fieldwork in Nepal, India, and Ghana.
With a PhD in a relevant field, you will have at least two years’ experience in conducting longitudinal or epidemiological research and a strong background quantitative methodology. Knowledge of the health systems in Nepal, India, and Ghana is essential. Your ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and your commitment to advancing global health research will be key to success in this role.
The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. If you are a current student at the University, you are welcome to apply for part-time roles of 16 hours or less per week, unless you are a part-time postgraduate student, in which case you can also apply for full time roles, subject to any visa requirements.
