Hydrologic Forecasting and Water Management with Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure is looking to fill one (1) full-time Water Control Systems Planning Engineer position. Conditions of Employment:
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM).
- Ability to travel as required
- Must be able to work extended hours
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Bachelor of Science (Engineering) degree (Civil is preferred).
- Experience in water resources engineering in the delivery of water management feasibility and flood mitigation studies.
- Experience in preliminary hydraulic designs of water course systems, crossing structures, erosion control structures, and flood control structures.
- Experience with hydraulic modeling, hydrologic modeling and ArcGIS software.
- Knowledge of statistical hydrologic analysis, reservoir routing procedures and principles of economic feasibility.
- Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures would be an asset.
- Knowledge of Occupational, Safety, Health & Risk Management policies and procedures would be an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience delivering technical presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Strong organizational/time management, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Duties:
Reporting to the Senior Water Control System Planning Engineer, the Water Control System Planning Engineer is responsible for providing engineering services related to water management planning exercises, issue and problem investigations, planning and feasibility analysis, and preliminary design of physical water infrastructure works. The position also conducts hydraulic investigations and assessments related to Provincially owned agricultural drainage systems and participates in broader watershed and basin-based water management assessment and planning exercises.
