The Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Missouri Geological Survey is seeking an Environmental Program Supervisor to serve as a supervising geologist in the Water Resources Center and lead the Groundwater Monitoring Unit. This position will manage a team of geologists and direct the unit activities in the collection of geologic and hydrologic data used to assess and manage Missouri’s groundwater resources.

This position is with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Missouri Geological Survey, and will be located at 111 Fairgrounds Rd, in Rolla, MO.

Responsibilities – What you’ll do

  • Oversee the design and maintenance of the statewide groundwater observation well network.
  • Solicit bids for construction of new monitoring sites and for well reconstruction projects.
  • Oversee geological and hydrological investigations and well rehabilitation projects.
  • Manage collection of water use data and oversee the implementation of the Major Water Users Law.
  • Develop and manage grant and expenses/equipment budgets.
  • Seek alternative funding opportunities and develop grant proposal applications.
  • Provide direct supervision for unit staff.
  • Support Water Resources Center activities in other program-level projects.

Qualifications – All you need for success

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, or closely related field, with at least four years of related experience
  • Registered geologist in Missouri or ability to become registered
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Authorized to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ArcGIS or other mapping software
  • Experience with hydrologic sensors/instrumentation and data recorders/transmitters
  • Experience leading teams and managing projects
