Offer Description
The research will therefore focus on the development of a REWSI applied to the context of minor non-electrically interconnected islands equipped with reverse osmosis desalination systems. The study will begin with an analysis of water resource consumption on small islands, including the flow of production, transformation, and distribution of water. The electric consumption necessary to meet water demand will be evaluated, with a detailed focus on island contexts. This will be followed by the optimization and mechanical sizing of pumps to ensure adequate pressure, as well as the operational strategy of the control system (Demand-Side Management), aimed at increasing renewable energy penetration. Renewable technologies (offshore and onshore wind, photovoltaics, and wave energy) that best integrate with the needs of the water system will be examined to optimize production curves and provide stability services to the grid.
