The project is a comparative study of the sedimentary regime in Mill Creek, a tributary of the Richibucto River. This creek was used by peat producers to discharge drainage water from the operated portion of the St. Charles Bog in southeastern New Brunswick, Canada. The drainage water of exploited peatlands is often loaded with sediments with a high proportion of peat, which is organic in nature and has a low density. Measurements of turbidity, sediment deposition, water level and discharge will be taken over the course of one to two seasons. Suspended solids concentrations and sediment deposition rates can be compared to those taken more than twenty years ago, in order to assess the progression or regression of conditions during this period.
