 The Division of Water Resources (DWR), also known as the Office of the State Engineer, administers water rights, issues water well permits, represents Colorado in interstate water compact proceedings, monitors streamflow and water use, approves construction and repair of dams and performs dam safety inspections, issues licenses for well drillers and assures the safe and proper construction of water wells, and maintains numerous databases of Colorado water information.

Description of Job

This position will continue the GIS data transformation project for the Map Cabinet Imagery and the Denver Basin Mylar Imagery.  The intent of this project is to complete the transformation of hard-copy imaged data to digital GIS data for well permitting encumbrance parcels.  This position will review imagery data, identify missing GIS data, capture the digital GIS data and attribute polygon parcels with appropriate well permit data.

  • Map Cabinet Project – Continuation of an existing project involving identifying except well parcel on imagery and capturing as digital GIS data.

Denver Basin Mylar Project – Examine Denver Basin Aquifer Mylar data on imagery and capturing digital GIS data for various Aquifers of the Denver Basin.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro
  • Understanding of GIS Editing Concepts
  • GIS Experience and/or Natural Resources Degree Preferred
  • Hybrid Work Environment – Part Time in DWR Offices
  • Basic Computer Skills Required (MS Office Suite or Google App Suite)
