Cahaba Riverkeeper’s science programs provide the organization a rich and meaningful context for seeking funding, as well as opportunities to participate in outdoor activities devised to protect, restore, and promote the Cahaba River and its water basin as it runs across central Alabama. We patrol the waters respond to pollution complaints and take action to ensure the problem is resolved. Through our Swim Guide program, we educate the public about clean water, public health safety, and trash abatement through active monitoring initiatives. We educate via social and mass media and in classrooms, with our school-based clean water and environment curriculum for middle school science teachers and students
