Location: This is a hybrid role, with our headquarters in Halifax, Nova Scotia. A fully remote option may be considered for an exceptional candidate.

Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Hydrological and Geospatial Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with hydrological data sets, for both chemical and physical data sets. The candidate will have a demonstrated proficiency in R and Python and geographic information systems. As a Hydrological and Geospatial Data Analyst, you will play a key role in gathering, analyzing, mapping, visualizing and interpreting complex data sets, developing insights that support decision-making, and communicating results in a clear and impactful way. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our mission of driving environmental impact through data-driven strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Gather data from published literature and from websites.
- Conduct data entry, quality assurance and control, and data analysis.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control measures to ensure the reliability of data.
- Interpret analytical data and prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings and observations.
- Analyze and interpret large data sets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Use R and Python to clean, process, and visualize data.
- Develop and maintain GIS mapping solutions for spatial data analysis and reporting.
- Communicate findings to key stakeholders using clear, concise reports and visualizations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support data-driven decision-making.
- Contribute to the development of automated data processing tools.
- Assist in the design and implementation of data models to improve overall data quality.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in data analysis and GIS mapping.
- Support the writing and preparation of publications and reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Engineering, Earth Science or a related field.
- Experience working with hydrological and environmental time series data sets.
- Experience in watershed geospatial analysis.
- Proven experience with R and Python for data analysis and visualization.
- Strong GIS mapping experience (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS).
- Experience in physical modelling is an asset.
- Experience with machine learning and deep learning is an asset.
- Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL) (preferred, but not required).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively both written and orally.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
- Strong project management skills and ability to efficiently get tasks completed.
