| Position Highlights | The Department of Chemical & Environmental Engineering at The University of Arizona (UA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with an anticipated start date in August 2025.We seek an interdisciplinary scholar with a Ph.D. degree in a relevant engineering discipline or closely related discipline to develop a vibrant research program focused on water and wastewater treatment with an engineering-centric approach. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in biological processes or in applications related to mining waste streams. Successful candidates will complement departmental and campus-wide strengths in the areas of direct potable reuse, membrane technologies, desalination, advanced oxidation, PFAS detection and treatment, energy/water systems, and environmental remediation of groundwater and surface water. The faculty member will be expected to form and maintain research and educational partnerships with cross-campus academic units such as environmental sciences, geosciences, hydrology, and other fields as appropriate. The faculty member will be expected to teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and contribute to mentoring students, including those from underrepresented backgrounds.Review of applications will begin on January 2, 2025. | Duties & Responsibilities | Responsibilities include research work leading to scholarly contributions to the profession, teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and departmental, college, and university service, such as outreach and recruitment.The faculty member is expected to develop innovative approaches to enhancing student engagement, increasing diversity, and expanding collaborations with community and other external partners. |
