About the role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Water Security Demand Modelling Specialist to lead the development and utilisation of water demand and efficiency management modelling tools. This role is crucial in supporting Response Planning and Water Futures Planning, requiring expertise in water demand modelling, analysis, and strategic planning. You will work collaboratively with internal and external partners to inform decision-making processes in the broader water resources team.

The Science and Strategy group employs scientific approaches to address present and upcoming challenges. They execute a strategy driven by customer preferences to elevate the SA Water brand and position us for future success.
In addition, your responsibilities will include:
Fostering trust with our people, customers and community by providing expert advice and service that ensure we effectively communicate and engage audiences with our business strategy and its delivery across South Australia, every day.
You will:
- Develop long-term and short-term water demand projections for our customers that supports strategic planning.
- Create a robust framework for demand projections, ensuring consistency with internal and external initiatives.
- Develop water end-use models and conduct customer analyses for targeted water efficiency programs.
- Continuously enhance demand modelling capabilities by researching best practice locally and globally.
- Analyse data to assist in developing comprehensive Response Plans for water sources.
- Collaborate with Regional and Metro Water Security teams to establish monitoring triggers for response plans.
Your success in this role will come from:
- Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of water security, demand, and efficiency.
- Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.
- Ability to draw strategic conclusions and make policy recommendations based on data analysis (Desirable)
- Experience in preparing high-quality reports and engaging with senior leaders (Desirable)
