Catchments and Hydraulic Modelling  (click here to apply & learn more)

Available locations: Cardiff and Bristol 

This role is sits within our Catchments and Modelling team. Our team vision is to restore and regenerate our rivers and catchments; we are a collective of passionate multi-disciplinary water/civil engineers, catchment hydraulic modellers (rivers and urban drainage systems) and environmental modellers/scientists. We work together to deliver a range of river health projects across the water cycle, including nature-based solutions and major infrastructure upgrades.  

We are looking for people who have an enthusiasm for a career in Water, underpinned by a knowledge and understanding of our sector. We require a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or Geography OR; Masters or post-graduate Degree in a similar Water related discipline, or a course accredited by ICE, CIWEM or equivalent.

Available locations: Leeds, Liverpool

Restoration of the water environment and construction of flood alleviation schemes relies on the analysis and understanding of catchment and river systems and their impacts on society. We model these systems and make predictions about their behaviour to develop designs, and make the business cases for their funding that will ultimately get them built. 

Key areas we work in include: catchment science and management, dams and reservoirs engineering, flood risk management, natural flood management, asset management, and climate change studies. We are looking for candidates with a degree in a relevant water focused discipline; geography, science, engineering, or equivalent

Available locations: Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle 

Graduates in our Hydrogeology team will be working in a multi-disciplinary office, preparing hydrogeological assessments, models and designs in co-ordination with a team of expert hydrogeologists for projects across a wide range of markets. The candidates will be expected to have a good comprehension of groundwater modelling and some experience with GIS for interrogating and presenting data would be useful.  They will provide input to multi-disciplinary projects and for groundwater-specific projects covering groundwater resources and supply, groundwater control and management, contamination and geothermal engineering both in the UK and internationally. 

You’ll help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. Due to the multi-disciplinary nature of our design teams, you will also work alongside experts in other Arup disciplines. With support you will get the opportunity to work on projects across the UK and overseas from time to time.

Arup’s Water team in Sheffield work on a broad range of projects associated with stormwater. We help communities and businesses to adapt when they are affected by too little or too much water; it may be polluted or simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. We are civil engineers, natural scientists and more, and we have skills and expertise in flood risk management, complex hydraulic modelling, nature restoration and infrastructure projects. We are passionate about the water sector and support a wide range of projects through different Arup portfolios. We work with different Arup teams across the world to deliver holistic solutions for nature and people. Our key areas of work include integrated hydraulic modelling, city-scale master planning, catchment science and management including nature-based solutions, flood risk management and blue-green infrastructure.

 Water Strategy and Advisory 

Arup’s London Water team are focussed on both UK and international water work.  In the UK, we are supporting the water industry in delivering all of its ambitions including; water company asset management services, water asset optimisation derived from data, environmental regulatory services, and risk management authority responsibilities as well as working with corporate clients on water risk and opportunities. Internationally, we work with governments and cities to build water resilience. 

We are keen to drive change within how we manage and work with water, providing the best advice to clients whilst considering the commercial, economic, environmental and social implications of projects. 

We are looking for candidates with a degree in a relevant water focused discipline: scientific, engineering, or equivalent. 

Water Engineering 

Our water engineering team works across the entire water sector, supporting projects from feasibility and optioneering to detailed design and commissioning.  With a multidisciplinary approach, we offer comprehensive engineering solutions across various disciplines, including civil, mechanical, process, electrical instrumentation,and energy. We are committed to delivering sustainable, resilient, and innovative cost-effective outcomes. We support our clients at all stages in the project lifecycle deploying digital solutions and automation to deliver class leading engineering solutions.  Our projects range from rural treatment works right up to the mega urban projects such as Thames Water’s Tideway Tunnel.
