Our Surface Water Science team is seeking to appoint a Lead Ecosystem Processes to provide scientific leadership and project management of monitoring and applied research related to surface water management in NSW.
As the Lead Ecosystem Processes you will manage and inspire a small team of scientists who provide advice on the allocation of water to priority needs in NSW. Your team will deliver projects that combine hydrology, aquatic ecology, catchment processes and surface water modelling to enable the development and evaluation of effective water management plans. You will also provide expert analysis and interpretation using hydrological and/or ecological analysis, statistical and modelling techniques.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in one or more of the following disciplines: water resource management and water allocation, hydrological spatial modelling, aquatic ecology, ecological water requirements
- Proven ability to project manage and evaluate complex scientific and hydrological investigations, as well as design and implement research projects related to water resource management
- Initiative to conceptualise and solve problems with strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships through strong communication, collaboration, engagement, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a small team to deliver exceptional performance, to balance a large workload across the team, including development of science communication products
- Current Australian Driver’s license, Class C and willingness to travel
Essential Requirements
- Degree in ecology, hydrology, environmental engineering, natural resource management, environmental science, or a related discipline
