Position Summary
Denver Water’s Water Resource Strategy Division is currently seeking a qualified candidate for the role of Planner Associate in the Water Rights section. This individual will be responsible for assisting the Water Rights section in the protection, acquisition, and development of water rights necessary to meet the water supply needs of Denver Water.
Under direct supervision performs technical research in various fields such as demographics, land use, and/or geographic information systems (GIS), demands, water rights, surface, groundwater analysis, environment, capital work budgets, and/or operations research. Perform surveys, administrative field studies, and analyses of research data.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Compile and maintain data sets from various sources.
- Prepare and analyze data for regular and ad hoc reporting to internal/external customers.
- Compile and calculate statistical data and develop and apply GIS technology.
- Perform quality control and quality assurance on technical and statistical analysis.
- Assist in conducting surveys and collecting information to be used in administrative, fiscal, budgetary, and procedural analysis.
- Create new methods of data collection.
- Prepare preliminary reports and recommendations, organize and present oral and written reports.
- Perform related work as required.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Planning, Natural Resources, Environmental Sciences or a related field such as Physical, Natural, or Biological Sciences.
- No related work experience required.
- Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
