The Role

This role may be available at the following RDMW office locations: Ayr, Brisbane, Bundaberg, Caboolture, Cairns, Gatton, Goondiwindi, Gympie, Longreach, Mackay, Mareeba, Rockhampton, South Johnstone, St George, Toowoomba, Townsville, Warwick – please advise your preference with your application

Operating from within the North region Water Planning and Science team, you will be involved in the development of innovative management solutions and policy for the development of Water Plans, Water Management Protocols and other policy relating to the efficient and sustainable management of Queensland’s water resources.

Key Accountabilities:

• Assist with the development of water plans, supporting instruments and other water planning documents in line with Queensland Water Act 2000 requirements.
• Liaise with technical experts from various disciplines to inform development of water management solutions and policy.
• Interpret and apply legislation, specifically the Water Act 2000 and associated subordinate legislations, regulations and policies, to achieve water planning and management outcomes.
• Undertake desktop research, data collection, interpretation and analysis to inform the assessment of a range of water management and policy issues
• Assist with consultation with internal and external clients in the delivery of water planning and science initiatives including facilitating stakeholder input for the development and implementation of water plans.
• Assist with preparation of policy papers, briefing notes, Cabinet submissions, Governor -in-Council documentation, and other correspondence as required.
• Contribute to analysis and interpretation of existing National and State Government strategies, policies and legislation in relation to efficient and sustainable management of Queensland’s water resources.
• Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting team members and sharing information.

About You

• You’ll be degree qualified in a field that is relevant to the Key Duties and Accountabilities. For example degrees in the following fields will be considered, environmental science, natural resource management, economics, policy, business.

• Flexible work location arrangements will be considered for this opportunity to facilitate an adaptive and agile workforce. For example: the successful candidate may work from a regional or Brisbane based location for all or part of the relieving period.

• A current driver’s licence is required as the role may involve travel from time to time.
