Background
The 25thWaterNet/WARFSA/GWP-SA Symposium will be held in the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho, Maseru at the Avani Maseru Hotel, 30th October – 1st November 2024 under the theme Enhancing Sustainability: Upscaling Innovations and Best Practices for Integrated Catchment and Water Resources Management (ICWRM) in Eastern and Southern Africa – Leaving No One Behind. The 25th Symposium will be hosted by the National University of Lesotho in collaboration with other partners.
Call for sponsorship from young journalist to cover the 25thWaterNet/WARFSA/GWP-SA Symposium
ReNOKA is calling for applications from interested young journalists and reporters from the SADC region for sponsorships to attend the 25thWaterNet/WARFSA/GWP-SA Symposium. This is aimed at giving them an opportunity to actively engage in the event and to capture the contents of the Symposium via a youth lens and translate these for youth target groups in region and beyond. The young journalists are expected to undertake the following activities:
- Prepare a media coverage strategy with the ReNOKA Communication & Visibility (C&V) teams for the symposium and roll the activities out during the event.
- Undertake activities which include:
- Interviews of key delegates,
- Documentation of proceedings,
- Designing and disseminating social media content based on the event.
- Provide key highlights of the event during the official closing ceremony.

ReNOKA (‘we are a river’) is a national programme and citizen movement for the restoration of land and water in Lesotho and the Orange-Senqu basin. Support for ReNOKA is provided through a partnership between the Government of Lesotho, the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The EU and BMZ contributions are implemented through a technical assistance project “Support to Integrated Catchment Management in Lesotho” by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
