About the role

An exciting opportunity has just arisen for a Floods and Droughts Research Infrastructure (FDRI) Innovation Manager based in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial

This is part of a new 5-year capital investment by the UK Government, enabling essential science and innovation to improve the UK’s resilience to hydrological extremes.

The FDRI Innovation Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of an extensive programme, which will incorporate state-of-the-art technologies in the FDRI infrastructure, support active innovation and experimentation in the FDRI testbeds and beyond, and build and active and engaging innovation community.

What you would be doing

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the FDRI innovation programme.

Duties will include the scoping and identification of relevant new technologies for flood and drought monitoring and analysis, the development and implementation of an innovation testbed programme, and the development and delivery of training, community engagement, and innovation activities such as hackatons and early tester opportunities.

You will also be responsible for fostering links with other national and international science and innovation communities, and particularly with other observatories and monitoring initiatives globally.

What we are looking for

  • You will have a bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a scientific discipline relevant to flood and drought processes and management
  • Significant experience in innovation, sustainability, floods and droughts management is essential, together with all round programme and project management skills
  • You will also have a track record and experience of achieving the results and KPIs required, together with a diplomatic, collaborative approach to engage and influence the multiple parties involved with FDRI

This is a full-time fixed term post for 36 months.
