Are you passionate about working with California Native American tribes and advancing tribal water solutions? The State Water Resources Control Board has an opening for a Tribal Affairs Specialist. In this role, you will lead efforts to support tribal drinking water and wastewater projects, provide day-to-day support for the Tribal Affairs Program, and engage directly with tribal governments and organizations. The position is based at 1001 I Street, 18th Floor, Sacramento, with convenient access to public transportation.

Duties:
This position serves as the Tribal Affairs Specialist, with a primary focus on leading tribal drinking water and wastewater solutions. The incumbent will act as the point of contact for tribes interested in accessing funding for water projects, working closely with State Water Board colleagues and tribal representatives to ensure the successful completion of tribal water infrastructure projects. In addition to water project-related duties, the incumbent will provide day-to-day support of the Tribal Affairs Program, including supporting coordination with tribal governments, tribal members, and tribal organizations; organizing events, meetings, and trainings; and developing documents, materials, and reports.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
