Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position. | Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Aquatic Sciences, Geography, Water Resource Management, or relevant degree program. Knowledge – Interpersonal Skills, Written and Oral Communication, Problem Solving, Technology – Water Quality Monitoring, Data Analysis, foundational knowledge of Geographic Information Systems. Analyze data; develop charts, tables, and graphs. Understand and interpretation of contracts. Commercial software experience with MS Office Suite, Contacts/database management, Water Quality Monitoring tools and software. Interpret contract deliverables, understand employer policies and procedures, and interpret federal and state program guidance and laws, guidelines, and policies related to the state’s water quality status and nonpoint source pollution.  Be able to properly communicate quarterly, final, and annual reports, special reports/research reports, data analysis interpretation reports, emails and other correspondence, newsletter articles, and public presentations, communicating with volunteers, staff members, and outside entities, (preparing material, determine content, format, and style); identify accommodations for presentations; develop agenda; present material effectively to groups of up to 100 on project components. Establish rapport with faculty, communities, stakeholders, volunteers, agencies, offices on campus, and outside entities. Accurate reading, writing, and listening skills. Ability to relay information at meetings. Ability to make decisions and adjust workflow. Analyze urgency, importance, and time needed to finish tasks. Creative engagement with stakeholders and partners. Ability to transfer monitoring data analyses and research outcomes to colleagues and members of the public. Ability to conduct research to gather accurate statistical, biological, sociological, hydrological, etc. data and policy information. Ability to write clearly and distinctly in English (Experience writing scientific and technical reports). Ability to interact professionally by telephone and in person, often with groups or individuals with modest social skills. |

Job Description | The Meadows Center for Water and the Environment (The Meadows Center) is an official university-level research center at Texas State University. Our work in each of these pillars begins at Spring Lake – one of the largest artesian springs in the world – and ripples outward across Texas and beyond.The Meadows Center is hiring a Water Resource Coordinator to manage research across various programs in the Watershed Services Department. Responsibilities include overseeing project development, serving as Principal Investigator and Quality Assurance Officer for grants, and leading research and water quality monitoring efforts for multiple programs. Duties involve coordinating programs, developing proposals, managing budgets, conducting trainings, performing water quality monitoring, and engaging with stakeholders. The role also includes data analysis, reporting, and collaborating with other institutions. The coordinator will supervise staff and students to enhance research quality and output. |
Job Duties | Lead and/or advise on environmental research for Watershed Services Programs, including Coastal Programs, Clean Rivers Program, and Texas Stream Team. Serve as Quality Assurance Officer and Principal Investigator (or Co-PI) for research proposals and grants. Present research at national, state, and local meetings and workshops. Supervise and mentor Watershed Services staff, graduate assistants, and student workers directly/indirectly. Develop policies and procedures for Meadows Center interdepartmental research and quality assurance programs. Collaborate with external partners, research institutes and universities to develop funding proposals, research opportunities, and advance research goals of the Meadows Center and Texas State University. Oversee supply inventory and purchasing, and equipment maintenance. Oversee design and implementation of data collection, analysis, and reporting for watershed protection efforts, water quality monitoring initiatives, and groundwater/surface water interaction studies. Prepare newsletter articles, data reports and lead or co-lead presentations, trainings, and workshops. Perform other duties as assigned. |
