This role is based in Bagsvaerd.
The Position
As the Water Stewardship Lead, you will play a pivotal role in maturing and deploying our water management strategy at production sites, developing and executing strategies to manage water risks and impacts in supply chains, and spearheading our approach to collective action and replenishment.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategy Deployment – Help mature and deploy our strategy on water management at production sites, ensuring alignment with peers, emerging nature frameworks, and disclosure requirements. Collaborate with product supply to implement the strategy.
- Supply Chain Management – Develop out our strategy on managing water risks and impacts in supply chains, including helping to design and implement a programme to build supplier capability to address key water challenges.
- Collective Action and Replenishment – Develop our approach, partnerships, governance and projects on collective action and replenishment within our value chain. Working closely with our international production sites and affiliates.
- Water Metrics – Develop our approach to measuring and accounting for water and impacts on water, including embedding it into internal systems.
- Provide input into our public affairs work as it relates to water, including for example, the EU Urban Wastewater Directive.
Qualifications
Our ideal candidate possesses:
- Proven experience in water management and stewardship, preferably within a corporate context.
- Background in working with NGOs and partnerships preferably in collective action and replenishment.
- Ability to develop and implement capability-building programmes for managing water risks and impacts in supply chains.
- Experience in developing and deploying water management strategies at production sites.
- Experience with water legislation eg. EU Urban Wastewater Directive.
- Knowledge of emerging nature frameworks and disclosure requirements including SBTN, CSRD and TNFD.
- Robust understanding of existing approaches and limitations to measuring water and water impacts, including LCAs and Volumetric Water Benefit Accounting.
- Ability to take initiative and build frameworks that can be embedded within the business.
- Strong collaborative and problem solving skills, able to work across strategy, reporting and product supply, bringing clarity to complex challenges and find pragmatic solutions.

Corporate Environmental Strategy is a diverse team responsible for ‘Circular for Zero’, where we strive for zero environmental impact. Our responsibility includes a variety of environmental initiatives across the organisation and with external stakeholders. We develop and deploy environmental strategies, run cross- organisational projects, drive environmental intelligence and ensure internal and external communication leading to a reduced Novo Nordisk environmental footprint. The department consist of 20 dedicated project managers and specialists, all highly engaged in driving the environmental strategy of Novo Nordisk.
