Job Description Summary | INTERNAL SEARCH Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station Director, Water Resources Center The Auburn University Water Resources Center (WRC), located in the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station (AAES) and supported by the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES), was created to facilitate successful collaboration among Auburn University faculty and staff on multi-disciplinary water-related research, Extension/outreach, and teaching; and to facilitate the active involvement of private citizens in the stewardship of water resources. The 12-month, faculty administrator position is envisioned as a 60% faculty/40% administration appointment, for a three-year period. The position is subject to renewal based on satisfactory performance and needs. It reports directly to the Associate Dean for Research and Associate Director, College of Agriculture and the Alabama Agriculture Experiment Station and the Associate Dean for Extension, College of Agriculture while collaborating with administrators, faculty, and staff located throughout the College of Agriculture (COA), Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station (AAES), Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) and Auburn University. The anticipated position start date is January 1, 2025.Responsibilities include providing leadership in accomplishing the WRC goals, to encourage and strengthen the links between AU water resources research and Extension, and strengthen innovative research, graduate education, and training in water resources science, manage and direct staff, budget planning and oversight, and programming to develop effective methods of delivering high impact programs. The successful candidate will serve as a representative of the Center; secure and expand financial resources through a diversity of funding sources; enhance and expand the multi-disciplinary nature of WRC’s research and education activities by increasing collaboration; administration of the USGS Water Resources Research Institute Program grant, including application for annual grant and the submission of required reports; supervision of staff; and interact with and serve as an interface with national and state leaders, as appropriate, in water resources issues and policies. |

Minimum Qualifications | Minimum qualifications include rank as a tenured Associate or Full Professor in a college/school affiliated with the AAES. The successful candidate will possess demonstrated experience in conducting and publishing peer-reviewed work in water related research, experience in Extension or outreach program development and/or delivery and experience in stakeholder engagement processes in a water-related discipline. A successful record of securing extramural funding in support of water-related research projects; previous experience in leadership and management; demonstrated effectiveness in interdisciplinary settings and engagement with diverse audiences and stakeholders including agency leaders, commodity groups, elected officials and industry leaders; and excellent interpersonal communication skills are required. Desired qualifications include the ability to develop and execute an innovative vision for growing the Water Resources Center including facilitation of interdisciplinary collaborations in water-related programs across the campus. |
