Job Description: Youth Sector Coordinator
The International Secretariat for Water (ISW) is looking for an experienced and skilled individual—agile, responsive, committed, passionate about international development and the environment, and convinced that youth—as an integral and active part of civil society—acts as a catalyst for change toward a fair and sustainable world.
Context
The International Secretariat for Water (ISW) works to ensure universal and sustainable access to safe drinking water and sanitation while preserving water resources. For over 30 years, we have focused on recognizing water as a human right and a lever for economic and social development. Through an international network of partners, we work across five continents to promote sustainable solutions, notably through youth, which we see as a key driver of societal and environmental transformation.
Main Mission
Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with an international and interdisciplinary team as well as numerous partners, the Youth Sector Coordinator will ensure the development and implementation of the ISW-SEE Youth Sector, whose orientations are defined by the 21-25 institutional strategy and the youth strategy, “WaterGeneration.”
In this role, the coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the Youth Sector, its development, and the implementation of programs that aim to achieve the desired advocacy objectives. Their responsibilities will include all strategic, thematic, financial, logistical, and technical aspects of the Youth Sector.
More specifically, the Youth Sector Coordinator—under the supervision of the Executive Director—will have the following duties:
Strategic and Thematic Development of the Youth Sector
- Implement the ongoing youth strategy and its associated programs.
- Ensure alignment between youth strategic objectives and institutional goals.
- Ensure coherence between youth advocacy targets and institutional objectives.
- Monitor and apply best practices and trends in youth participation in decision-making processes
Youth Sector Coordination and Program Development
- Ensure programmatic development in line with the youth and institutional strategies.
- Lead the development of the annual programming.
- Ensure the quality of reports, funding proposals, and other deliverables.
- Develop and coordinate the implementation of projects and may be called upon to implement specific projects.
- Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of the Youth Sector.
Youth Sector Team Support
- Guide and support team members of the Youth Sector.
- Approve the work plans of team members and ensure the achievement of assigned objectives.
- Contribute to the creation of collaborative workspaces.
Partnerships and Funding
- Identify new intervention or funding opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with youth and youth sector partners.
- Identify new key partners based on priority orientations and sectors.
- Participate in relevant consultations and coalitions of actors.
Other Responsibilities
- Contribute to the production of the ISW/SEE annual report and other communication materials.
- Contribute to the organization’s global monitoring and evaluation efforts.
- Suggest improvements to increase the success of the actions.

Skills and Qualifications:
- The candidate is an experienced and competent professional who is at ease in an agile environment where it is necessary to be reactive, committed, passionate about international development and the environment, and convinced that youth – an integral and active part of civil society – is a gas pedal of change for a just and sustainable world.
More specifically, the skills and qualifications of the candidate sought:
- University degree in international relations, water resource management, environment, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in team coordination, project management, and/or multi-stakeholder platform facilitation, preferably in the water, international cooperation, development, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge and interest in global issues, particularly water and its connections to climate, inequalities, peace, etc.
- Familiarity with water governance actors at local and international scales is a strong asset.
- Solid project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Aptitude and interest in partnership work.
- Experience collaborating with institutional donors.
- Team spirit, cultural sensitivity, and diplomacy.
- Flexibility, ability to adapt to change, and capacity to handle stressful situations.
- Comfort in public speaking and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including youth, institutional partners, and decision-makers.
- Proficiency in French and English, with strong writing skills.
