Description
Field guide: NYC H2O is seeking guides to lead school groups on field trips to historic reservoirs in NYC Parks, including the Central Park Reservoir, Ridgewood Reservoir in Brooklyn, the Jerome Park Reservoir in the Bronx, Silver Lake & Lemon Creek in Staten Island and the High Bridge.
Applicants should be comfortable leading school groups of grades 2 – 12, have an interest in NYC history and geography and like to teach outdoors.
Paid training includes:
- Attending 6 training sessions
- Mastering the content for 2 reservoirs/sites
- Apprenticing on 10 tours with an experienced guide
Payment for training of $1,200 is made after completion of the items listed above.
After completion of the training program guides will be paid $125 per field trip.
Field trips last 2 hours and take place from 10:30am – 12:30pm Monday thru Friday from September – November and from March -June.
NYC H2O’s mission is to educate and inspire New Yorkers about their water system, watersheds, bays, rivers and wetlands, and the preservation and care of its historic reservoirs and surrounding parklands, as a precious resource for the future.
