Join International Rivers in our mission to protect rivers and defend the rights of communities that depend on them. We’re seeking a versatile Digital Communications specialist for a short-term engagement to support our digital presence and key initiatives.

- Remote position, collaborating with our global team across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and USA
- Preferred locations: USA, South Africa, Thailand (countries where we have legal entities)
About International Rivers:
International Rivers works to protect rivers and the rights of communities that depend on them. We collaborate with an international network of dam-affected people, grassroots organizations, environmentalists, human rights advocates, and others committed to stopping destructive river projects and promoting better options. With expertise in big dams, energy and water policy, climate change, and international financial institutions, we support partner organizations and dam-affected people by providing advice, training, and technical assistance, and advocating on their behalf with governments, banks, companies, and international agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with program staff to create engaging content for social media platforms (Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram)
- Write occasional blog posts
- Assist with campaign launches and support conference presentations
- Support webinars and creation of virtual event assets
- Assist with updating website
- Participate in occasional team meetings
Output:
Working with program staff and communications team, produce:
- 6-8 posts, 1 reel/story per month
- 2-3 blogs per month
- Support for 1-2 webinars or virtual event, with program and/or development staff
- 2-3 flyers or other marketing collateral
Ideal Candidate:
- Excellent English language writing and communication skills
- Experience in advocacy communications preferably for environmental or social justice organizations
- Proficiency in creating digital content and graphics using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines and stakeholders across multiple time zones
- Passion for environmental and human rights issues
