Aqua Strategies Inc. (https://aquastrategies.com/) is seeking a qualified candidate with a background in one or more of the following disciplines: water quality modeling, water resources engineering and H&H modeling. We prefer candidates who have a strong background in lake, river and estuarine water quality modeling, but skills in the other disciplines would be useful. Experience with programming tools such as Python and MATLAB is desirable, as are competencies in GIS and CAD. Project experience in Texas, Oklahoma or New Mexico is preferred, and project management experience is preferred.

Job Description:  Our ideal candidate can demonstrate sufficient experience managing projects and tasks, issuing deliverables with minimal supervision. Typical job functions and desired qualifications are listed below:

Typical Job Functions

  • Develop, analyze, interpret, summarize and present water quality and water resources data;
  • Build, calibrate, run and describe models used in the analysis of water quantity and quality;
  • Analyze, interpret and develop water quality model results and maps;
  • Make presentations at public meetings, workshops, conferences and client meetings;
  • Develop proposals and estimate budgets;
  • Manage work products, budgets, and contracts;
  • Support a large team of individuals working on complex water quality models
  • Review and understand water and wastewater designs, processes and permitting limits; and
  • Participate in field data collection efforts.

Desired Qualifications

  • Degree from four-year college or university with BS in engineering, water resources, or closely related subject;
  • Master’s degree in water resources engineering or hydrology/hydraulics;
  • 2 to 10 years of experience in water quality modeling, H&H modeling and permitting;
  • Proficiency with MS-Excel, MATLAB, Python, R or similar processing or scripting tools;
  • Familiarity with QGIS, ESRI-GIS products, or similar;
  • Experience using CAD software for drainage design projects;
  • Experience with water quality, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools, such as CE-QUAL-W2, SWAT, River2D, Flo2D, EFDC, SWMM, HSPF, QUAL-TX, Mike-SHE, HEC-RAS, etc.
  • Familiarity with water quality monitoring and analysis instrumentation and/or data collection methods;
  • Professional Engineer’s license, or ability to obtain soon; and
  • US Citizenship, or proof of legal right to work in the US.
