Job Description:
The College of Engineering and Applied Sciences of University at Albany seeks applicants for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position beginning Spring 2025 or Fall 2025 for its Environmental and Sustainable Engineering Department.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally funded research program in environmental and sustainable engineering. In addition, the applicant will be responsible for teaching 2-4 courses per year at the undergraduate and/or graduate level and participate in curriculum development. Other teaching assignments will be determined by the candidate’s expertise and the needs of the Department.
Faculty are expected to provide service to the College and their home departments and programs by participating in governance as well as providing professional service to the community and their disciplines. The successful applicant will be expected to actively mentor undergraduate and graduate students, including underserved and historically underrepresented students, and participate in pipeline programs to help build a diverse and representative student population. The applicant must also participate in research tied to their interests and expertise with faculty in the other departments.
Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, air quality and pollution prevention, renewable materials, sustainable design, food-energy-water nexus and water resources engineering.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A PhD in Environmental Engineering or closely related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 12/31/2024 for a Spring 2025 start date, and by 8/31/2024 for a Fall 2025 start date. Candidates who will not hold the degree by these dates will not be considered.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
- Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging, relative to their role.
- Successful applicants will present/have a record of research accomplishments requisite for an Assistant/Associate Professor in an area that aligns with environmental and sustainable engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Applicants for Assistant Professor must address their plan and/or ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in varying modalities including in-person, online and/or hybrid.
- Applicants for Associate Professor must have experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in varying modalities including in-person, online, and/or hybrid.
- Successful applicants present a record of the potential for obtaining external funding or applying for and obtaining external funding requisite for an Assistant/Associate Professor in an area that aligns with environmental and sustainable engineering or a closely related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Participation in sponsored research, either as student, Co-PI or PI, will strengthen the application
- Record of effectively teaching graduate and/or undergraduate levels as evidenced in application materials
