Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) seeks national experts in Moldova for consultancy roles in a two-stage research study on wastewater reuse in agriculture and effective water resource management.

Background
SEI is inviting applications from national experts to contribute to stage one of a research study exploring the potential for wastewater reuse in agriculture and prospects for effective water resource management in Moldova, aligned with the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2020/741 of the European Parliament and of the Council on minimum requirements for water reuse.
The purpose of the study is to support Moldova’s upcoming decision on whether and how to implement the use of reclaimed wastewater for agricultural irrigation in specific areas. Stage one will involve a feasibility and initial scoping assessment of the current status of irrigation practices in Moldova, including an overview of geographic locations, water sources and volumes, seasonal water scarcities, crops involved, and stakeholder, legal, institutional, permitting and infrastructural aspects.
This project is part of the Green Agenda for Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova and Armenia (GA GUMA) activities in Moldova and will be conducted in close cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova.

Duration
National experts will be contracted for an initial period of four months, starting in September 2024, with a possibility of extension for more in-depth analysis in 2025.
General requirements
- The expert must fulfill all legal obligations regarding registration, taxation and other legal charges in Moldova.
- Upon request by SEI, and at the latest before signing an agreement, the expert must provide proof of registration from the respective tax authority in the country of residence where they are registered as a taxpayer.
