This is a meaningful position in the Water Resources Management department to support long-range water supply planning for the Austin metropolitan area and the lower Colorado River basin! This position will be involved with a high variety of project evaluations and studies, and work in a dynamic environment. In this role you will apply engineering principles and statistical methods to assess water rights and biological and environmental needs. This position maintains and operates water supply models which include sophisticated interactions of water rights constraints, environmental criteria, and operational approaches. Candidates with a non-engineering degree, but a strong background in computer modeling and hydrology are encouraged to apply. You will be trusted to:

– Develop and apply computer models to estimate surface water supply availability, instream flows, and operation of lakes Buchanan and Travis and other reservoirs in the LCRA system.
– Use data from LCRA Hydromet and other hydrologic data sources to develop decision support tools for LCRA Water Resources Management Division.
– Use water supply models to estimate benefit and impact of various water supply management alternatives and potential new supply projects.
– Perform project management of special projects with internal staff and outside consultants, developing summary presentations of technical material to assist and advise LCRA management.
– Participate in outside advisory, work groups focused on the use and improvement of water supply models and associated applications.
You qualify with:

– Bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology, engineering physics, biosystems engineering, mathematical science, physical science or related science plus one or more years of post-Bachelors engineering experience relating to the area of engineering specialization required to perform the job.  
– Driver’s license
