Do you have a strong interest in fostering strategic partnerships between Danish companies and key stakeholders in the US? Then you might be our new Public Affairs Advisor!

What is the job about?

As a Public Affairs Advisor for the Water Advisory at the Embassy of Denmark in Washington, D.C., you will be at the forefront of promoting Denmark’s strongholds in the green transition within the water and energy efficiency sector across the United States. You will take charge of a public affairs track for leading Danish companies, looking to strengthen their influence and presence in the US water and public sectors. You will also be leading our government-to-government partnerships with US water entities.

As our new colleague, you will be part of our North American Water & Environment team, consisting of nine advisors based in Chicago, Houston, and Silicon Valley. Our mission is to inspire and encourage US utilities, cities, and states to adopt Danish solutions and technologies within the water sector.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • Expanding our presence in Washington, D.C., and the US by engaging with federal and state environmental agencies, academic institutions, water associations, consultants, and key opinion leaders, establishing lasting partnerships.
  • Mapping and analyzing US regulations, ensuring that Danish companies gains in-depth knowledge of latest development and can position themselves as effectively in front of key decision makers.
  • Organizing and executing events, workshops, seminars and high-level delegations to and from the US and Denmark.
  • Serving as a vital link between US stakeholders and Danish partners, facilitating project and collaboration opportunities.
  • Assisting in the creation of ambitious meeting programs and provide support for ministerial visits, summits, and delegation programs throughout the year.
  • Managing discussions around regulatory frameworks and ensure Danish partners are well-positioned to succeed within the North American market by addressing critical challenges and opportunities in water policy.

Who you are:

  • You have experience and knowledge of the strongholds in the Danish water sector. Insights to Danish water regulations and energy efficiency are beneficial but not a requirement.
  • You have knowledge of the US regulatory affairs within the water and energy sector and a key interest in environment, water, and climate agenda.
  • You have strong analytical skills while possessing curiosity and creativity to build deep knowledge in water solutions and develop strong local networks across public and private stakeholders.
  • You have relevant education and preferably with relevant work experience (minimum 3 years) in public and governmental affairs, consulting, business or project development.
  • You are ambitious, efficient, outgoing, and able to handle multiple tasks often with short deadlines.
  • You have a high sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently as well as in teams.
  • You have an excellent command of English (written and spoken).

Employment conditions

  • We offer full-time employment for two years on a local contract with the possibility of extension.
  • Your standard working hours will be 37 hours per week, with a large degree of flexibility in organizing your daily working hours.
  • You will be entitled to 25 days of paid vacation per year.
  • Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience, and proven work-related results.
  • You will be offered reasonable coverage of sickness expenses.
