The Role
A Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (RDMW) position offers you the chance to be involved in the management of the state’s resources by providing and leading administration support based in the North Region. As a Water Officer, you will be a member of a larger team that manages the State’s Natural resources through the implementation of legislation and policy. You will need to proactively participate in an enthusiastic team to build on a positive, outcomes focused culture. This position will be based with the Water Services work unit, focusing on Water Management and Use. However, you may be required to change focus depending on Departmental priorities and requirements in other areas of the business.
Key Duties and Accountabilities
• Provide collaborative leadership and supervision to the North Region’s processing team across regional centres within North Region.
• Prioritise and coordinate workflow processes, managing multiple and conflicting deadlines to achieve performance targets in accordance with departmental priorities and objectives.
• Undertake approvals, assessments and make recommendations of water applications and dealings under the Water Act 2000 (Water Act), Water Regulation 2016 and other Acts relating to water dealings.
• Provide written and verbal advice to internal and external customers on matters relating to licensing functions under the Water Act and other supporting WMU regulatory policies, guidelines and procedures, which may include face to face enquires at the Customer Service Centre.
• Provide project support to the Water Management team including recommending business improvements and undertake other emergent projects as requested by the Manager, Water Management.
• Streamline business processes and implement business improvements through revised policies/work procedures.
• Represent your team through active participation in internal state-wide forums
• Operate independently and as part of a high functioning team to meet the objectives outlined in the department’s strategic plan and business plans.
• Ability to maintain personal integrity and transparency with others.
• Ability and skills to operate a variety of software packages to ensure quality customer service is delivered and maintained.
