About the role
Exciting opportunity to support the Water, Floodplains and Coast team in the Regional Delivery Division (North East). The team drive the development and implementation of coastal zone, catchment and flood risk management initiatives, and provide key technical advice and guidance to local government, internal and external stakeholders for delivery of the NSW Coastal Management Framework, Marine Estate Management Strategy and Floodplain Management Program.

Key knowledge and experience:
- Demonstrated senior level knowledge and experience in delivering coastal zone and catchment management programs, studies and plans, and projects targeted at management of coastal hazards and ecosystem health in collaboration with local councils and state agencies to ensure policies, programs and legislative requirements are interpreted and implemented consistently.
- Knowledge and experience in resolving issues and pursuing opportunities for the improved management of diffuse source water pollution in coastal catchments including development of governance and funding opportunities, and building and maintaining positive and trusting relationships with key stakeholders and Traditional Owners.
- Demonstrated senior level experience in negotiating acceptable outcomes when dealing with government authorities, stakeholders and community groups on issues which may be complex, contentious, and of considerable social and political significance.
Essential requirements:
- Appropriate degree level tertiary qualifications in natural resources, environmental science, engineering, marine biology or related discipline.
