Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The MacroSystems Ecology Lab in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, & Organismal Biology at Iowa State University has an opening for a postdoc scholar in Eco-hydrological Modeling and Flood Prediction.
We are seeking an individual to work on 1) conducting process-based eco-hydrological modeling in agricultural watersheds and managed landscapes; 2) improving prediction accuracy of rural flood by integrating cross-scale water monitoring, process-based modeling, and AI techniques. Specific responsibilities encompass large-scale data development and analysis, enhancing hybrid models, conducting simulations, evaluating models, performing uncertainty analyses, and preparing manuscripts. Collaborative support from experts in computer science, deep learning, and hydro-informatics will be provided under one ongoing NSF project. Moreover, the selected individual will be encouraged to explore new research directions, such as participating in research proposal development. Additionally, they will assist in lab management and engage with both graduate and undergraduate students.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Eco-hydrology, Hydrology, Ecosystem Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Remote Sensing or related fields
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in process-based eco-hydrological modeling in human-managed system
• Experience in utilizing big data and AI tools (e.g., deep learning), and proficient coding skills (in at least one of R, Python, C or C++, MATLAB)
• Record of research publications in refereed journals of high quality
• Demonstrated ability to function well within multidisciplinary teams
