This position is located at Waters Edge in Roseville. The incumbent may have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule. The incumbent will be required to report onsite at least once/month but may be required to work onsite more depending on business needs. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. 

This position will provide water resources engineering services for the Metro District, which include, and is not limited to:

  • Conduct and review water resources engineering work in the design, construction, and maintenance of highways systems in the MnDOT Metro area. The position will complete and oversee preliminary and final water resources design using Open Roads Designer (ORD), HydroCAD and other water resources design software.
  • Obtain water resources permits.
  • Negotiate agreements, easements, and cost sharing for water resources requirements.
  • Supervise team and workload.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review consultant prepared construction plans for drainage and storm water treatment features to insure MnDOT standards are followed, and regulatory concerns and requirements are satisfied.
  • Resolve drainage and erosion control issues.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through comity (reciprocity), a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment.)

·       A valid Class D Driver’s License with NONE of the following: a major traffic conviction in the past 5 years OR 4 or more minor violations OR 3 or more at-fault accidents in the last 3 years OR any combination of minor violations and at-fault accidents totaling 4 or more occurrences.

If advanced to the finalist pool, in addition to the preceding minimum qualifications you will be assessed on additional criteria during a job interview:

·       Ability to review technical information and arrive at solutions to problems as they arise.

·       Ability to communicate ideas and concepts and work well with others as a member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience interpreting, following, and obtaining the water resources related permits for construction projects:  NPDES, watershed district, DNR, and COE. 

·       Experience with ORD.

·       Experience in MicroStation, GeoPak Drainage, HydroCAD and other computer applications used in design of the water resources aspects of projects.

·       Experience designing urban and rural stormwater drainage systems and stormwater treatment systems such as infiltration facilities, green infrastructure, wet ponds, swales, and sand filters.
