The Opportunity:

We currently have a Level 5 position available and are seeking to establish a pool of suitable Level 5 and 6 Senior Water Planning Officers, within the Water Allocation Planning branch for future vacancies.

Level 5

Water Planning officers have demonstrated experience and knowledge of water planning across the state. A Senior officer may support or lead the delivery of water plans and policies across the state. They are usually responsible for operational outcomes in a specific area, project or field. To achieve this they are often required to negotiate and liaise with others across the department at all levels.

Senior officers help to build organisational capacity and capability as it relates to water plans, policy, availability and use. Senior officers represent the Department at meetings and/or community forums and contribute to appropriate stakeholder management. They provide some mentoring and coaching of less experienced staff.

Senior officers contribute to the review and development of processes and procedures to support delivery of water planning products

Level 6

Senior Water Planning Officers have considerable experience and knowledge of water planning across the state. They are responsible for delivering, or managing the delivery of, water plans and policies across the state. They are usually responsible for operational outcomes in a specific area, project or field. To achieve this, they are often required to negotiate and liaise with others across the department at all levels.

Senior officers are team leaders who supervise and manage the work of others. They ensure that resources are available, deliverables are achieved in a timely manner, and that work follows approved procedures.

Senior officers contribute to the review and development of processes and procedures to support delivery of water planning products. They also contribute to business planning and work programs by assisting and advising Managers.

Senior officers undertake complex and specialised tasks in their profession and mentor and manage the work of other less experienced or knowledgeable staff.

This pool will operate for a period of twelve (12) months with vacancies being offered at part or full time on a permanent or fixed term contract basis with the possibility of extension or permanency. Pool applicants do not hold a right of review against appointment decisions made from the pool.
