Job Summary
The Team
The Water Authorizations Group, part of the larger West Coast Water Management Team, is an established and diverse group of 17 dedicated professionals committed to the sustainable management of water resources under the Water Sustainability Act. Our team is made up of water officers and technicians from various disciplines who work together to process water licence applications and to support provincial drought and flood response efforts. We value a supportive environment where staff share knowledge and expertise to work collaboratively.
The Role
In this role, you’ll support the work of water officers and managers in ensuring the fair and accurate adjudication of water rights by completing preliminary reviews of water licence applications and conducting quality assurance reviews of documents. You will also be responsible for maintaining data in the provincial wells database (GWELLS). This role offers constant learning opportunities, a dynamic and challenging work environment, and the chance to be part of a team that values progressive and innovative approaches to resource management. This position also has opportunities for field work in the summer.

Job Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in a related area, OR
- An equivalent combination of experience, education and training may be considered.
- Experience in the interpretation of legislation and policy working with legal documents.
- Experience managing the accuracy and integrity of data bases and using a variety of digital tools.
Preference may be given for one or all of the following:
- Natural resource management education and/or experience.
- Experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience working with iMap.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
