DCA/NCA is looking for an enthusiastic engineer to join its WASH programme in south- and eastern Ukraine. She/he will contribute to the efficient and effective implementation of WASH projects as part of the DCA/NCA WASH team based in Mykolaiv. His/her main responsibilities will be the cooperation and the development of local partners, direct liaison with local stakeholders, internal stakeholder management such as the heads of other departments and the DCA/NCA senior management in Kyiv as well as taking an active deputy role for the WASH Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Planning, design, implementation and monitoring/tracking of medium-large scale infrastructural construction projects
- Prepare and monitor contractual engagements of consultant companies for large-scale/complex projects
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to local partners
- Evaluate the technical status of projects and propose any amendment steps to achieve project objectives
- Directly manage relations and communication with relevant authorities
- Support the timely development of donor proposals
- Support overall management of the DCA/NCA’s water, sanitation and hygiene programme
- Independent coordination of DCA/NCA activities in WASH with partners, internal- and external stakeholders
- Communicate with partners for progress monitoring, in close cooperation with the MEAL- and Communication departments
- Collecting and facilitating feedback and “Lessons Learnt” with local partners as well as DCA internally
- Submit regular technical and organizational reports as required
- Contribute to country office strategies, reviews, action and contingency plans
- Support program accountability to partners, national government, benefiting communities and donors.
- Deputize the WASH Manager as required incl. representation and communication of the DCA/NCA WASH programme towards internal and external stakeholders
- Participation in WASH Cluster meetings and pro-active WASH sector networking
The experience we’re looking for includes:
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree or higher in the fields of Civil Engineering, Environmental engineering or related.
- Minimum 1 year of work experience as a practising engineer.
- Professional working level in written and spoken English and Ukranian language is required
- Demonstrated skills in planning, design and project supervision.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, ability to communicate effectively on culturally sensitive issues to diverse audiences.
- Ability to be proactive and work independently.
- Ability to operate in a high stress and unpredictable environment.
- Willingness to travel
Work related travels are expected in this position.
