Location: Flexible, but Italy preferred

I. Major Functions: The Junior Consultant will contribute to the implementation of projects at WWF Mediterranean with a particular focus on  Sustainable Blue Economy, Blue Carbon and Marine Protected Areas. The Junior Consultant will support tasks that fall within specific projects as well as internal WWF network requirements. Duties include organization of project-specific logistics (including setting up online meetings, for instance) and support in the planning of meetings and workshops (including preparation of minutes and of communications material for distribution). The incumbent may be expected to travel internationally to support the projects.

II. Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Support the Regional Projects Manager in the implementation of regional projects and/or specific pilot/country projects implemented by WWF Offices or partner organizations with a particular focus on offshore renewable energy, blue forests and area-based conservation measures;
  2. Support in drafting and delivering reports;
  3. Organise online calls and meetings with project teams;
  4. Coordinate the organization of workshops and meetings;
  5. Coordinates the production of policy briefs and other materials regarding projects and initiatives in liaison with the Regional Policy manager;
  6. Undertakes missions in the project’s sites and/or other countries in as required to undertake the above tasks;
  7. Prepares procurements and purchase requests connected to the above activities
  8. Undertakes the above duties in compliance with WWF standards, procedures and guidelines;​

III. Required Qualifications

​Education

  • Advanced University Degree (Master or equivalent) in marine science, environmental science or related fields

​​Work experience 

  • ​A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience

Skills/Competencies 

  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in developing and making oral presentations
  • Excellent knowledge and command of the English language, particularly in technical/scientific report writing and preferably at least one other Mediterranean language
  • Project management skills
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment, with sensitivity to different cultural perspectives and practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders from various background
  • Strong analytical skills to assess environmental data, identify trends, and inform project strategies.
  • Ability to conduct research and produce reports, policy briefs, and other documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
  • Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other environmental monitoring tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, both locally and remotely.

​​​​​IV. Working Relationships:

  • ​​Internal –The consultant reports to the Regional Projects Manager and  interacts with the MMI regional team, WWF National offices in the Mediterranean. Coordinates with WWF MedPO Finance and Administration department (administrators assigned to concerned projects).
